A journey just shy of two hours away is Baggs, Wyoming – gateway to the Red Desert a little known wilderness the size of Denali National Park that brings the steppes of Mongolia to America’s backyard . Named for its vast expanses of dry red soil, the Red Desert is a land of wild horses and some of the most unforgiving landscapes in the West. It is also the largest area of unfenced land in forty-eight states and is home to the world’s largest population of Pronghorn Antelope, 50,000 to be exact. It’s a harsh country not to be trifled with, but the stark beauty here is more than worth the effort. Population: 348 - Elevation 6,245 feet

The fleet-footed Pronghorn Antelope are among the speediest animals in North America, they can reach top speeds in excess of 53mph. They are often cited as the second-fastest land animal, second only to the cheetah.

Looking for that special small town situated at the base of the Rocky Mountains lying along the banks of a beautiful trout-filled river? Well, you have just discovered Riverside, Wyoming! Riverside began its life as a shipping center for the copper mines that used to dot the landscape of the nearby Sierra Madre Mountain Range. Riverside A special sight to make sure to see is the Indian Bathtubs. Located a short distance outside of Riverside, these are bowl-shaped rock formations which, when filled with rainwater, become natural bathtubs! The trailhead begins off Blackhall Mountain Road, and it’s a 2 1/2 mile round trip hike to the tubs and back.
